Monthly Archives: December 2013

Just a quick update to report that I am still methodically and religiously plotting my next story.  Working two days per scene, I’m up to scene 22.  I don’t want to jinx anything but so far so good.  It’ll still be months before I’m done with plotting, let alone a first draft, but I’m committed.  One thing that could possibly derail me — temporarily — is a short story (!) idea that struck me yesterday.  I haven’t written a short story in over a decade but I pulled out the dog-eared copy of The Short Story Blueprint that I ordered from Writer’s Digest way back in the early 1990’s, along with my beloved copy of The Emerald City by Jennifer Egan, my favorite short story collection. (Remember, the character of Jenny in Cheer was named for Jennifer Egan…) We’ll see what happens…
